I thought I would test out this blog business by trying to describe what I am hoping to achieve over the off season to prepare for next year.

First on the list is;

CR125M2 - I have two of these one of which I have owned since 1977. It has sat under my Dad's house since 1979 when I parked it there after getting a CR125RZ for that season. Wish I still had that one too. It is in pretty poor condition as it was exposed to the elements all those years.

I have since purchased a pretty good, running but in need of a rebuild, CR that I intend to use while restoring my original bike.

Brilliant. Buy your dad a beer from me. My dad sold my mint RM125 N in 1996 for the $400 I paid for it and through in my ride gear because he felt sorry for the bloke and he got my money back on the bike. Since then I do my own buying and selling. see you on the line pete

Good project Shaun. My old square barrel Maico still exists purely because I couldn't sell it when I was going overseas in 1975 so I left it in my parents garden shed where it remained until I returned un 1980. It stayed there until 1986 when it was pulled out and it underwent its first of many restos. I've still got the old girl. We'll celebrate a 40 year relationship next year. Let's hope you can keep your Honda as long.

yeah, cred shaun for not having done what most of us did and liquidate bikes to fund subsequent bikes. and parents are generally not that enthused about keeping large metal objects in their shed/garage for decades either. you now only have to get a good '79 125 to replace the one you had to complete the lineup.

That's very cool Shaun, I wish I had some of the bikes I owned back then. I actually really like the 76/77 CR125s with the downpipes. I know they were seen as a bit outdated then, but I would have one in a flash these days if I could. Good luck with the resto and keep us posted.
