Nice one Kevin.
Current Maico's i have are '77 400, '81 490 gs/mc race bike, '81GS490, an '81 MC490 project . It is actually a frame and cases with the correct numbers and an '82 gs490 donor bike.
I have the parts you need if you want to borrow to get yours up and running. Give me a call 0417192302.
Cheers, Brad.

Ross,
I share your frustration, my 490 is all but finished and I am only waiting on a new brake pedal and pegs before I can start the running in and tune up process. I would like to see photo's of your resto and hear about what you have done to your Maico. I know I have done or have had done everything to mine even down to ceramic coating inside and outside of my chamber. I will list some photo's and comments on various things I've done and why. Ross you could do the same and let people know what can be done locally and for how much. Thanks for your comments.

Good idea about setting up Maico Lovers and fans group Kevin, currently having a struggle with two bikes getting rebuilds at the moment (490 Mega 2 dropped bigend) and 71 square barrel (freshen up) also riding a Aw400 and have a 73 radial waiting for a rebuild.

Welcome to the the Maico Lovers and Fans Group. Anyone who has a Maico, had a Maico or just likes the German Marque are welcome. I would like this group to be a place where we can share information and knowledge of this incredible machine. I don't mind stories and anecdotes about the history of Maico and it's riders. Please join and post your stories, questions and comments.
Benim Diche,
Kevin Tomkyns
