That is a sweet 79 Paul! That is what I would like to do with my 78, 42mm forks, Aluminum 81 swingarm, I made some peg mounts that move the pegs back and down.

Yes the kickstarter will eventually punch a hole in the cases where the gear shaft runs through.

I have a lug welded on the frame so the kickstarter hits that and not the cases. Don't make it too high or you'll never get the clutch cover of without removing the engine.

When at full stroke it hits the clutch cover . The frame on my racer had a weld on it so the kick starter hit that , saving the cover. Unfortunately it was ground off by a friend as he thought it wasn't getting full stroke. When I repaint it I will be putting a weld on there again.

Nice Bike Paul, I would like to ask all Maico owners about experience with the kick starter problem of hitting the case? Is there a easy solution to this problem?
