Victorian Classic Motocross 2008 Series - Round 1
Traralgon Race Report
(and photos below)
Round one of the 2008 VCM series was held at Traralgon motocross track
on April 13. Track conditions were dry with a water truck needed. Once
again MCRCV ran a superb meeting, a big thank you to all MCRCV members
and volunteers.
The year got off to a good start with a solid turnout of riders and spectators,
around 80 bikes including six sidecars competing. The full MX track was
used which turned out to be a long lap of thick black sand & in places
hard pack ground, awesome track for pre 75 racing.
The Pre 78 & Evo classes continue to grow - some of the Viper boys
turned up and really carved up the track.
As the day went on the acceleration bumps appeared and throw in some
braking bumps and you have a real test of machinery and fitness.
There were four jumps in a line that moderns go double - double on, the
Herbert boys showed the way double double on pre 75 bikes, unfortunately
Jason Herbert aboard his fathers mint YZ360A flipped the bike in this
section and rearranged the back end, what more can I say.
The sidecars put on a great show with one outfit in particular showing
some serious pace on a wearing track, the rest of the outfits were also
fast.
The next round is at Ravenswood, where the track layout has returned
to a wide fast flowing track; get your entries in early.
People planning to camp at Ravenswood or stay nearby, Michael Hughes
could use some help on track preparation Saturday afternoon, call Michael
on (03) 5443 7474 if you can assist.
See you at Ravenswood
