QVMX 2007 Series - Round 1

The first round of QVMX's 2007 series was held at Tamborine on March 8. Our trusty Queensland correspondent, Jackie Irwin, was on the spot.

FIRST MEETING FOR QVMX A SUCCESS

A clear sky and a slight breeze provided a perfect day for racing, and the proof was in the pudding, as 63 riders turned up for the first race of the year. I know I've said this before, but … this club really is excellent…they're just a great team of people, who work extremely well together. Thank you to everyone who gave their time to ensure that riders were safe, and spectators had an exciting day.

QVMX has a great reputation for holding their meetings on some of the best natural terrain tracks in southeast Queensland, and although Tamborine is not as challenging as the other tracks, it's a good track, for clearing out the cobwebs. Racing got off to a good start, but it wasn't long before what started out, as a good fast track, with long straights, became a dust bowl making visibility near impossible at certain points.

After having a break from racing it was great to see #13 Neil Currie back out there on his 250 Pre 70 CZ, Neil lost his original #75 to one of his mates Phillip Bell, but all was forgiven when he discovered that Phil has also bought himself a CZ. While we're on the subject of #75 Phillip Bell, he was one happy guy winning all three evo races on his 125 husky. I was chatting with Phil in the afternoon, discussing how bad the dust was when he cheekily replied 'what dust, there's no dust when your in the lead,' Hmmm…smart arse… was my reply!

There were a lot of good riders out there today, in particular a new member to the club, I don't know his name yet, but he rode open evo on a YZ, definitely fast, and very consistent… but it was the Cavell boys who stole the show, these guys are just an excellent pair of riders, who really make it all sooo exciting…
The next race will be at Caboolture 15th of April. So if you are in the area, come along and check this track out, you won't be disappointed…

PS: Except for Conondale, QVMX will now have a food van at the meetings. The food is fresh, priced well and taste fantastic, so come on guys and gals lets give them our support…They really do make a mean burger.
