Events > Aussie Nats 2007 THE VMX NATS at COFFS HARBOURStory and photos
The races were really well organised, one of the ladies down there came
up with the simple, but brilliant idea 'sticker on the front guard' showing
riders which event, practice lap, and races they were in, it saved a lot
of mucking around, which I bet all the guys who were working the starting
line appreciated, what a women
Friday morning was sign on, scrutineering,
and then practice, unfortunately Gary McDonald from Queensland didn't
even have the pleasure of a practice lap, his beloved 125 husky decided
to blow the piston ring taking him out of the competition all together.
There were mixed feelings about the track, but majority of the riders
seemed more than happy with it. Saturday and the track was relentless
as it took its victims one by one, eight injuries in all. Sunday last
of day of racing all went well, with I think only one injury. It's so good to see the younger guys getting into this sport, and as we saw on the weekend, they certainly provided us with some excellent racing. One young rider who needs mention is #12 Brendan Wollenwebe, aged only 17 Brendan had his first taste of what the Titles are all about there was no holding him back as he tackled some very experienced riders in the pre 78 solo on his 250 husky, Brendan finished his weekend on a borrowed bike which he rode in the Pre 75 all powers all ages race. Surprise #85 Ryan Trubshaw who only started racing late last year, Ryan aged 23 received a third place trophy for his age group in the Pre 75 solo 263 and over. Congratulations to all Title winners and to everyone who received trophies.
