Brisbane Motorcycle Club Classic MX Clubday
October 2005
The Brisbane Motorcycle Club held a club day for their classic MX riders
at the Nudgee track on October 30. Our man on the scene filed this report
and a pile of fine photos.
It's not called the sunshine state for nothing and anyone who attended
the closed to club Classic MX day for the Brisbane Motorcycle Club on
Sunday October 30 would have to agree it was a scorcher. Not only was
the sun on fire but so were some competitors with the pace nothing short
of super fast. The highlight for myself was a viewing one lovely Greeves
Griffin.
After 42 years walking this planet this is the first I had seen in the
flesh. Worthy of a mention but that takes nothing away from the many other
glorious VMXer's that turned up on the day. A handfull more converted
4 stroke trailbikes appeared as well and this is great to see. The 1980
XL500S was definitely no slouch.
Only one big get off whilst I was in attendence but the rider, although
very much worse for wear, was up and about shortly thereafter and that
was great to see. I must say it was a nasty one from my vantage point
and if it were me I would still be laying there I am sure! The rains during
the previous week had the track once again in fine loamy form with little
dust and the humidity being the only enemy for an otherwise perfect day.
It does look wonderful and must be a great track to ride. Next year I
hope to experience it for myself from the other side of the fence.
