Brisbane Motorcycle Club Round 3 2006

OzVMX's intrepid reporter on the scene in beautiful downtown Brisbane, Jackie Iwin, went along to the BMCC's round 3 for 2006, camera in hand. Lucky she did, because here's how it all went on the day...

Its starting to get cold here in Brisbane and today was no exception as winter reared its ugly head for round 3 at Nudgee. Although the day was bleak, the riders definitely were not as they unloaded their bikes in anticipation of what the day would bring. A few showers helped to produce a track which went from wet and slippery, to firm and grippy, not to mention fast..and speaking of fast...I'm sure some of the riders here today either had no brakes, or their throttle glued on to full.

Even though attendance was small, the racing was still exciting. After many years of dedication to the club it was great to see Vern Grayson number 40 out there on his Pre 70 Triumph, that bike has a sound that is pure music to the ear. Good to see another evo rider has seen the light and joined the Pre 75 class on a 400 CZ in preparation for the Australian titles in WA, Phillip Bell number 19 proved he had no trouble handling his new toy, as he passed the chequered flag first in the Pre 75 open.

Not often seen, Dave tanner number 211 took to this track like honey to a bee as he powered on his Pre 75 450 and Pre 78 250 Kawasaki's. Up from Coffs Harbour again Don Thornton seemed to be having a good time as he tusseled with Gary McDonald in the Pre 75 - 125 race, while the usual gang of Steve Maxwell #48, Mitch Semmens #112, and Doug Sharples #49 battled it out in front. Once again it was a fantastic day which passed without any human injury. The next meeting for the Brisbane Motorcycle Club is on the 13th of August.
