HEAVEN's 2008 Evo Challenge is coming!!

It's now less than three weeks until the 2008 HEAVEN Evo Challenge. This is one of the club's biggies for the year and will I am sure be just as good as the events from previous years.

This year the meet will be held at the Lake Glenbawn track over the weekend of May 17/18 with pre entry closing on May 9. Of course, this event caters to all the usual classes as well as the Evo trophy races, so really anyone wanting a fantastic weekend of vintage motocross couldn't do any better than to get along to the 2008 EVO CHALLENGE.

Download the event flyer here (PDF)...

Victorian Classic Motocross Rd 2

Round 2 of the VCM 2008 series will be held at Ravenswood MX track on May 4. The track will be groomed to suit the vintage MX bikes and should be just perfect. Last year's event at this venue was awesome.

Get those entries in and support the Bendigo MCC.

Round 1 VCM in 2008

The Victorian Classic Motocross club held their first round of racing for 2008 at Traralgon on Sunday 13 April. A top day's racing was had by all with plenty of good hard racing in the sandy conditions.

VIPER Round 1 on May 18

Victoria's VIPER series kicks off in just 4 weeks on May 18 at Yanakie. As always, you can expect a rip roaring time with big fields across the classes, and some hard charging fun in the dirt.

It also worth noting that VIPER has moved from the Pre78, 80, 85, 90 & Open format to Pre78, Evolution, Pre85, Pre 90 & Open format. There has also been one change to the race schedule from last year in that the Pre90 riders get 4 laps per race instead of 3.

Get all the details from the VIPER website here...

Round 1 QVMX in 2008

The first round of QVMX's 2008 series was held at the superb Coles Creek track on March 30. Queensland VMX fan Jackie Mac was on the scene and sent us these great photos to show us what we missed out on if we don't live in South East Queensland.

Australian Classic Motocross Championships 2008

The Australian Classic MX Champs, or Nats, will be held in Tasmania over the weekend 6-8th June.

Friday 6th Scrutinering and Practice
Saturday 7th 2 rounds
Sunday 8th 1 round and presentation dinner that night.

The Venue is confirmed at Quercus Park, Carrick about 15 minutes from Launceston in the north of Tasmania. The track will be natural terrain with a couple of small jumps for the older bikes and a few larger jumps for the newer bikes this track will be designed to cater for both old pre 60 bikes as well as the later pre 85 bikes also, with the track being two tracks in one. This is a great opportunity to not only race the Nats but to also have a great break away from it all in the Apple Isle with the track located in a particularly nice part of the country.

Call 0438568092 or email fatboyracing@bigpond.com for more information about the event.

Supp Regs/Entry can be downloaded from the MTAS website at http://www.mtas.org.au.

Australian Classic Dirt Track Championships

The Australian Classic Dirt Track Championships will be on again in 2008. After being missing in action for a couple of years the Wagga club ran a successful 2007 event and that's opened the way for a resurgence of interest in the DT Nats. This year the meeting will be held at the Fairbairn track at Canberra in the ACT.

The club is especially keen for this to be a special event, and are pulling out the stops to ensure its success. The track is being relicensed and has had plenty of work done in recent times to ensure a spectacular weekend of racing.

Yep, that's right, a full weekend will be devoted to the DT Nats, with a show and shine and other attractions on Saturday 6 September, plus a full afternoon's practice to get your bike sorted, and then racing with all classes on Sunday 7 September.

So, if you love classic dirt track action, keep the weekend of 6+7 September in your diary and come along to Canberra.

More information will be posted on OzVMX as it comes to hand, though in the meantime call Pat Pither on 0419 905 410 with any questions.

DMCC Social Weekend

The Dandenong Motorcycle Club held a social get together for all vintage motocross enthusiasts at the Wonthaggi track over the March 1/2 weekend. Everyone had a fine time it seems.

BMCC Sign On 2008 Photos

The BMCC held its sign on/practice day recently and a strong rollup of over 50 riders came out to enjoy a great day's playing in the dirt. Jackie Mac sent a nice selection of photos from the day to whet our appetite for the coming season of VMX.

Latest GMC Catalogue

Geoff from Geoff Morris Concepts does some great work, and the feedback is always positive. Geoff is also a regular on our forums, and the word is that he's the man to see for an aftermarket frame kit for your CZ or HL, a custom pipe, or any of a myriad of general fabrication tasks. Geoff is always adding to his range, so check out his new 2008 catalogue to see if he's got just what you want. And if it's not listed, give him a bell. You might be surprised.

Brand New HEAVEN Website

NSW's HEAVEN club continues to grow, and with a new committee building on the great work of the old in 2008 we can expect to see more of the topline events that have made the club such a success over the past several years. To help spread the word and to keep members up to date on everything HEAVEN, a new website has just been unveiled.

This means that the website hosted here on OzVMX is no more. Links on OzVMX will now take you directly to the new site. We will of course continue to promote HEAVEN events, but for the information firsthand, visit http://www.heaven-vintagemx.com/.

Yamaha TT/XT500 Parts Supplier

The venerable Yamaha TT/XT500 is an absolute legend and as anyone who's been to the Muster will tell you, there are still plenty of them around. However, finding parts, especially plastics etc, is getting more difficult, even though Yamaha made a million of these things.

Enter Andrew Mason from the UK. Andrew has bitten the bullet in a big way and has set out to manufacture an extensive array of parts for the big thumper. Hot off the presses are high quality colour accurate sidecovers in white, orange and yellow.

Hunter Motorcycle Club - Vintage Dirt Track Classes

With growing interest in vintage dirt track racing in the Hunter region, HMCC is now including a pre-1978 and pre-1985 class in its club race meetings at Barleigh Ranch, north of Raymond Terrace.

Sign on is from 7.30 am and racing from 9.30 am. It is planned to get at least four rounds of racing in. Vintage riders can generally ride in Senior All Powers as well as their age category in each round, giving a minimum of eight races total.

For any more details contact the club secretary Rodger Starkey on 0419 896 745.

Adler Motocrosser

Check this one out. It's an Adler MXer resto (well, sort of a resto cum construction) by Gus P. I have never seen one of these before, but Gus sure has done a great job.

OzVMX Classifieds System

The OzVMX Classifieds page has proven to be a real winner. The feedback is very positive, with many advertisers selling their bike within a matter of days. However, it's a big job to maintain this page, and the time has come to replace the old manual system with a swish new automatic one.

As from Monday 25 September, the old system of mailing your advert to OzVMX has been closed. From now on, advertisers must use the new automated system. This will require you to register, and post your own advert. It is a pretty simple system to use however, and best of all, it's still free.

Note that the old ads on the For Sale page will remain for one further month.

Find out more, and visit the new system, here...

Need help with shipping from the US?

We received this email from Buddy Johnson in the US, offering to help with shipping. I don't know the guy and cannot vouch for his integrity, but pass on his offer here for anyone who might be interested.

"I wanted to post on your site a service of shipping eBay items from the USA to Australia..I've done this service for a couple of guys in Australia over the last year (one being Peter Worrall @ Husky Parts AU) who wanted to bid on items on eBay in the USA, but the sellers stated won't ship out of the country..so they have won the item/s and then had the item/s shipped to me..I then do the customs forms and repackage if necessary then post to Australia for them for a small fee & the shipping..if this is a service that I can do for you guys down under let me know..Thanks, Buddy "maicobuddy" Johnson"
